In line with the Tamil Nadu Online Gaming Authority (Regulation of Real Money Games) Regulations, 2025 (TNOGA), Taj Rummy has implemented key features within the app experience that cater directly to regulatory expectations. These updates are tailored specifically for users from Tamil Nadu and are now live across registration, gameplay, deposits and user access flows.
Below is a breakdown of how each regulatory requirement has been implemented on Taj Rummy:
Know Your Customer (KYC) & Aadhaar Verification
Players from Tamil Nadu are required by the TNOGA to complete full KYC at the time of registration. At Taj Rummy, this process begins with the upload of acceptable ID documents — Aadhaar, Voter ID or Driving License — at the sign-up stage itself.
To reinforce this, we’ve built a second level of authentication that aligns with TNOGA’s requirement for Aadhaar OTP verification. After entering the Aadhaar number, users receive an OTP on their registered phone, which must be entered to complete account activation.
For existing users, any deposit or withdrawal attempt will prompt the same KYC workflow, ensuring that no transaction takes place without verified identity credentials.
Disallowing Minors
During the process of registration and KYC verification thereafter, we confirm the user’s date of birth using the uploaded documents. Anyone under 18 is immediately disqualified from accessing any of our games.
Warnings/ Caution Messages
The TNOGA Regulation stipulates that pop-up messages need to be shown to users from Tamil Nadu after every 30 minutes after completion of the first hour of continuous play.
To ensure that users are constantly aware of their gameplay duration, we’ve introduced dynamic warning pop-ups that begin after the first 90 minutes of continuous play, in keeping with this regulation. For example, if a user is playing for 1 hour and 30 minutes, a caution message is displayed:
“You’ve been playing for over 1 hour 30 minutes. Please take a break and play responsibly.”
This continues every 30 minutes with a refreshed time note.
Additionally, as per the regulation, a caution message containing the following is to be shown every time a user from Tamil Nadu logs in/ opens the website/app: “ONLINE GAMING IS ADDICTIVE IN NATURE.”
As soon as a player from Tamil Nadu logs in at Taj Rummy, they are met with a Caution message to PLAY RESPONSIBLY, along with a note that Online Gaming is Addictive in Nature.
Deposit Limits
Taj Rummy ensures that new players from Tamil Nadu set a daily deposit limit during onboarding. Existing users are required to do the same when they initiate a deposit or withdrawal. This mirrors TNOGA’s directive on pre-defined monetary caps.
Once inside the deposit section, players can view their deposit settings — including daily, weekly and monthly limits — alongside how much has already been spent.
Blank Hours
Between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM every night, players from Tamil Nadu are restricted from playing at Taj Rummy. If they happen to log in and try to play a game during this time, a message pops up informing them that “Blank Hours” are active. This is in keeping with the TNOGA instructions for maintaining Blank Hours.
Legal Compliance and Penalty Prevention
Caution: Non-compliance with the TNOGA stipulation may lead to up to ₹5,000 fine or 3 months’ imprisonment for players.
Taj Rummy is fully aligned with the TNOGA framework. Every feature introduced above is designed to ensure seamless compliance, avoid penalties, and continue offering players a safe, legal environment.
The TNOGA 2025 regulations mark a significant shift in how real-money gaming is governed in Tamil Nadu. Taj Rummy supports this proactive approach to user protection and regulatory clarity. These implementations are not just checkboxes—they reflect our commitment to offering a legally compliant and transparent platform to every player.
These changes apply exclusively to users from Tamil Nadu, and are live as of now. For any queries, our support team is ready to assist.
